Lives Transformed
Today, i will be sharing from the website of the Global fund for
Children about an intriguing story of change and impact of an Early Years
Center in Nairobi's Kibera slum -a pioneer of inclusive education.
I read about the impact Little
Rock Early Development Center is making in the lives of young children in
Kenya by Providing early childhood education for young children with
disabilities, orphans and children affected with HIV AIDS, little Rocks is the
1st inclusive early years’ center in Kenya. When the government of Kenya
declared free education, there was an influx of young children into primary
schools with little or no early years’ education.
Little Rocks was founded to
help bridge the gap that suddenly became obvious in Kenya by providing quality
Child Care Education as well medical checkups, occupational therapy, and
nutritious meals. Little Rocks is a Partner of Global fund for children and has
been able to reach about 900 children.
The Story of Little Rocks
brings to my mind the various opportunities available to provide Early
Childhood Education for young children in Nigeria, especially as
Internally Displaced People (IDP)are on the increase due to Insurgency in
North-Eastern Part of the Country. Many Organizations are providing care and
education but more consideration should be given for Early Development Center as the demographics
change due to insurgency.
The Work for Early Years
Practitioners look huge in the North Eastern Part of Nigeria, however, we can
start with baby steps and like Little Rocks make giant impact!
Thank You Lilly of Little Rocks
for transforming Lives!!!

This is such a fantastic service the foundation is offering and clearing giving some many children the opportunity to receive education as well as services needed. It is never a case of children not wanting to learn or parents not wanting to take their children to school but always these outside factors that effect so many here within the US as well.
